Group Facilitation

The group facilitator or set advisor may be a working group member who is familiar with the problem being discussed, or an external participant who does not necessarily understand the problem content or organizational context, but possesses action learning facilitation skills.

The facilitator is very important in helping participants reflect both on what they are learning and how they are solving problems. This individual helps group members reflect on how they listen, how they may have reframed the problem, how they give each other feedback, how they are planning and working, and what assumptions may be shaping their beliefs and actions.
