When leaders come to me for coaching, it is usually because of one of two reasons. Some individuals have what I refer to as a remedial focus to executive coaching. That is, they are trying to resolve certain leadership style or behavioral issues that, if addressed, can help them turn around performance problems. In contrast, professionals who are already doing well in their current jobs approach executive coaching from a developmental perspective. These individuals are looking for ways to prepare themselves for broader leadership roles, either by expanding the value that they add within their current roles through promotional moves or through transitions into very different work settings within their companies. ...
