Geolocation—Maps, Measurements, Models, and Methods

Abstract

Geolocation denotes the position of an object in a geopraphical context. The geolocation algorithm is characterized by four M’s: which Measurements are used, the Map, the Motion model used for describing the motion of the object, and the filtering Method. We describe a general framework for geolocation based on the particle filter. We generalize the concept of fingerprinting for describing the procedure of fitting measurements (along a trajectory) to the map.
