Naming Cells

The idea behind naming cells is to be able to reference a cell by name rather than by cell address. This proves useful when building formulas because you don't have to remember the exact cell address, only a name. You can assign a name to a single cell or to a range of cells. This comes in handy if you plan to export portions of your spreadsheet for use in another application. One of the options you will have is to export a named range. Put simply, it's easier to remember “net profit” or “jan2003 sales” than it is to remember “d123” or “A13:A47.”

1.	Select the cell(s).
