Sending and Receiving Secure E-mails

As soon as you have installed your digital certificate and set up your secure e-mail settings, you can send digitally signed messages to people. Sending a digitally signed message is a required first step for exchanging encrypted e-mails with them.

To send someone a signed e-mail message, open a new e-mail message and select the Digitally Sign icon on the toolbar. The Digitally Sign and Encrypt Message icons are automatically added to your toolbar in e-mails after you have configured secure e-mail settings. The Digitally Sign icon is an envelope with a red ribbon, and the Encrypt Message icon is an envelope with a blue padlock, as shown in Figure 18.6.
