Understanding Search Engines and Your Site

One of the first things any site owner should do after launching a Web site is to get that site listed in a Web search engine. Registering with a search engine can be one of the best ways to enable people to find you.

That said, simply registering your site with a search engine is not necessarily going to drive a huge amount of traffic to your site. You also need to find a way to improve your site's rank in the list. For example, suppose there are 100,000 sites that cover the subject of home improvement.
