Adding Text Descriptions to a Graphic

There are two different ways you can, and perhaps should, add text to a graphic you insert on a page. Such text can offer unique information that can help identify the graphic and place it in context.

The ways to add text are as follows:

  • In the form of a caption

  • In the form of a text description that can be read by those who may not be able to see the image itself (for example, people with visual disabilities who access your page using a special reader tool to tell them the contents of your page)

To add a caption, you first insert a text box, in which you can then type the information you want to appear with the image. To add a text box to an image, do the following:
