Back in the ’90s, when I was just starting my career as graphic designer, I didn’t even know such a job title existed. All I knew was that I was creating things like logos and layouts for posters. The Internet was still just starting in my country, Brazil, and our access to information was generally limited to books rather than websites. If you wanted to learn how to use the most popular design applications like Photoshop and Illustrator, the best route was to buy a book about the software and follow it. Even though a great variety of books were available, most of them focused on filters and other technical topics, with little attention paid to art and design principles.
