Introduction

Peter Drucker mentored Rick Warren for twenty to twenty-five years. During that time Warren developed the purpose-driven paradigm for the management of churches, as described in his book The Purpose Driven Church (1995). In a 2005 survey of American pastors and ministers by George Barna, a leading market researcher on religion in America, this book was voted the second most influential, behind Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life (2002).¹⁰⁰
