Introduction
A remarkable meeting between Rick Warren and Peter Drucker took place on January 22, 2003, after the publication of Warrenâs best-selling book, The Purpose Driven Life (2002). It was a period of rapid growth both for Saddleback Community Church and for other satellite purpose-driven churches inspired by Warrenâs book and the program 40 Days of Purpose. Warren consulted with Drucker to explore questions of leadership development and organization structure caused by this rapid growth.
