Chapter 19. Bad Boss in a Big Bureaucracy

What happens when you’ve got a bad boss and most of your coworkers agree, but a layered bureaucracy and procedural protections make it very hard to dislodge that boss for anything other than grossly out-of-line behavior? If the boss merely creates a corrosive, demoralizing environment that may not be enough to get him ousted, leaving you and the other employees feeling stuck and frustrated, and griping to each other. This situation is more common of governmental and educational bureaucracies, where all kinds of rules and procedures are in place for handling complaints. But what do you do if it happens to you?
