In this chapter, we have learned about Microsoft .NET and its main components. We discussed development tools and .NET languages, .NET Enterprise servers, and also provided a brief overview of the Microsoft .NET Framework and discussed the .NET Framework class library, Common Language Runtime, and web services.

In the second part of this chapter we saw how to install Microsoft .NET Framework SDK.

In the next chapter, we will learn about one of the core components of Microsoft .NET Framework – Common Language Runtime.
