Customizing KDE
Customizing a KDE desktop is not difficult; it is just another step in learning about KDE. You can customize many features with a few keystrokes and mouse clicks. Other features, such as designing and installing themes (page 323), are more difficult. The value of KDEHOME defaults to ~/.kde when the variable is not set.
Control Center
The KDE Control Center allows you to get information on and control many aspects of your desktop: the K Desktop Environment and the kwin window manager. Bring up the Control Center window by clicking the Control Center icon on a panel (Figure 8-26) or choosing Control Center from the K menu. Tables 8-14 through 8-21 describe a basic set of Control Center menus; your menus may differ.
