Staying Motivated

I know I’ve covered a lot of ground in this book, and most of it had nothing to do with operating a camera. However, the skills it takes to get you on assignment are just as important as the assignment itself. No matter what, the most significant part of photojournalism is the pictures. They are the lasting and true testament to who you are as a photographer and storyteller. They stand the test of time and can outlive their makers for hundreds of years.

My final advice is to carry your camera with you wherever you go because there’s no telling when and where the story will happen; start a personal project to keep you personally fulfilled; seek and mentor and get critiqued from time to time; join a community of photographers ...
