“Take photos of everything. Making pictures is the same as creating music. There will be high notes, mid-tone notes, and the notes that soar, taking you to heights of beauty or to the depths of darkness, depending on your immediate worldview of the moment. In any case, it takes a lot of practice and exposure to ongoing life in order to advance to a point of maturity where you are able to intelligently define what you see with a camera,” says Ellis (Eli) Reed, award-winning Magnum photographer and professor of photojournalism at The University of Texas at Austin.
