We do not have to look very far to see a clear picture of exactly what is going on with government finances. There is good financial data dating back to the beginning of the United States that we can view and analyze. This financial history is useful because we can see “real” numbers—what actually happened. As you will see, there is a large gulf between what people were told by the government would happen and what actually happened.
