If You Decide to Use a Chair

If you feel that some great dramatic choice is not going to be possible without using a chair bear this in mind: the very act of sitting down is a pulling back kind of energy, the very thing you should not do during an audition. You will need to find a way to play against this. When sitting in a chair you are basically cutting your body in half, most actors tending to lean forward when seated. This cramps your midsection and diaphragm into themselves, doing the same thing to your vocal production.
