In the section on audit planning, the creation of checklists and so on by the auditor was discussed. There are significant merits to the individual preparation for an audit by the assigned auditor. Rather than develop (or use an already developed set of) questions to ask, checklists need only be those things that the auditor will use to begin a discussion – much as a shopping list is used by someone on a grocery shopping trip. Only simple prompts are really necessary to have a conversation with the various people who manage or operate a process.
