David A. Moss is the John G. McLean Professor at Harvard Business School. He earned his BA from Cornell University (1986) and his PhD from Yale University (1992). After graduating from Yale, Moss served as a senior economist at Abt Associates, a public policy consulting firm based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He joined the Business School faculty in July 1993.
Professor Moss has authored two previous books: Socializing Security: Progressive-Era Economists and the Origins of American Social Policy (Harvard University Press, 1996) and When All Else Fails: Government as the Ultimate Risk Manager (Harvard University Press, 2002).
