Introduction

Looking at the M&A literature, it seems that leadership issues have taken a back seat in academic and practitioners’ ideas and discussions (Gomes, Angwin, Weber, and Tarba, 2013). In most cases in which one points on M&A key success or failure factors, it is clear that sometimes leadership is mentioned but largely neglected. Over the last three decades, the discipline of strategic management has become increasingly concerned with top executives and their efforts to formulate strategy, but mentioned leadership issues only in passing.
