THE COURAGE TO ACT

Although speech is definitely a powerful form of action, acting courageously often goes a step beyond speaking courageously. If one of your clients is having trouble taking action, an effective coaching invitation might be to have him or her think for a moment and recall the most dramatic image of courageous action he or she can remember. We invite you to do this yourself. After you read the next few sentences, see what comes to mind for you. What do you think back to when you seek to remember an act of courage that you witnessed or heard recounted? It could be something you saw in real life, saw reported on television, or in a movie. What do you feel now as you remember the sights and sounds that gave rise to those feelings? ...
