NTSC Analog Television
For many years, NTSC was the system specified in the FCC rules for television broadcasting in the United States. On June 12, 2009, however, NTSC broadcasting ceased for all full-power U.S. television stations, now replaced by digital ATSC broadcasting (see Chapter 16). At the time of this writing, NTSC is still used for full-power broadcasting in Canada, Mexico, and other countries. NTSC signal outputs are also provided on set-top boxes used to convert digital TV signals for use with existing analog TV sets and other video devices.
