E-mail Errors: SimpleKindness or Common Sense?

The question used to be: “Nancy, what do you think of people who don’t return their phone calls?” Today we insert the word e-mail for phone calls.

My answer on not returning phone calls was simple: Not returning a phone call is plain rude. It’s like not using your turn signal when switching lanes. With phone calls, you can have someone else return the call on your behalf. You can record a message that tells where you are, when you will return, and who to contact in your absence. Perhaps it’s something you can delegate. You merely forward the voicemail to an associate and ask him/her to handle the situation for you.
