CHALLENGE 39: DELAY IN STARTING PROJECT

A client’s priorities change with the changing business demands, and they expect that your priorities are aligned accordingly. A project that has been kicked off and is in progress, can be shelved for a multitude of reasons. It ends up being a real test for the project manager, having to stop all activities that were planned meticulously and are currently under execution.

The ensemble of acquired resources has to be released and there is no guarantee that you will get the same set of people when the project resumes. Sometimes there may even be a delay in resource ramp-up. Make your client aware of this situation, and give a clear lead time for resuming the project.
