CHALLENGE 18: REVISION OF ESTIMATES AND TIMESCALES

Often we get caught in the catch-22 situation when it comes to revision of estimates and timescales of our project. We don’t know for sure if we should go to our client/management team with revised estimates/timescales, because they always expect us to deliver to the timescales as agreed at the beginning of the project. In some scenarios, we don’t have any forums, such as steering committee meetings, to go to with estimates/timescale changes. There are even scenarios where an organisation has no change management process and all changes are to be absorbed by the project team.

Worst of all, at times, you are seen as an inefficient project manager if you revise your plan/costs.
