CHALLENGE 7: SERVICE INTRODUCTION CHALLENGES

In the project life cycle, there will be a parallel track that is led by the Service Introduction Manager (SIM). The SIM will manage the activities to take the project into business as usual (BAU), and the team will do the production support and post-warranty support. In smaller organisations, the project manager will usually dual play the SI manager role, and part of the application development team will act as the application maintenance/support team. In this scenario, the SIM will face certain challenges in terms of clarity, on the kind of activities that are to be carried out. This chapter is dedicated to providing some ideas on this subject.
