By now, you should be very familiar with your foundational voice, its weapons system, and your voice order. You should be aware of how the lenses of nature, nurture, and choice have all played their parts in shaping your leadership behaviors and how, through your voice, you hear and communicate vision and change. Put simply, the more you know yourself the greater your capacity to lead yourself.

Before we shift into thinking specifically about your team, take some time to reflect on these questions:

  • Do you know yourself well enough to lead yourself? If not, then others will have a hard time following you.
  • Do you know the individuals on your team well enough to lead them appropriately? What are their tendencies? What motivates them?
  • Are you willing to take the time to apply these leadership principles precisely and relevantly with your team?
  • Do you understand what it sounds like to be on the other side of your voice?
  • Do you value the voices that are different from yours?

To this point our primary focus has been applying the insights of 5 Voices to what we call the Self Circle of Influence; we know that leaders define culture and as such, transformational change here will deeply impact the way we lead in our families, teams, organizations, and communities. Let's now shift the focus to the Team Circle of Influence.
