Relaying

Abstract

A relay in LTE is in essence a small base station, wirelessly connected using the LTE radio interface to the remaining part of the radio-access network. In this chapter, the LTE release 10 relaying functionality is discussed, including both the architectural aspects and the more detailed radio-interface functionality. Particular attention is given to the tools used to handle interference between the backhaul (base-station-to-relay) and access (relay-to-terminal) links.
