Uplink Physical-Layer Processing

This chapter provides a description of the basic physical-layer functionality of the LTE uplink. It essentially follows the same outline as the corresponding downlink description provided in the previous chapter with detailed descriptions regarding transport-channel processing (Section 11.1), the reference-signal structure (Section 11.2), multi-antenna transmission (Section 11.3), and the uplink L1/L2 control-channel structure (Section 11.4). Physical aspects directly related to some specific uplink functions and procedures such as random access will be provided in later chapters. The chapter ends with a discussion on the uplink timing-alignment procedure in Section 11.5.
