Crowds Overview

A scene animated with Crowd tools is called a crowd simulation. It’s created with two types of helper objects: a Crowd helper and Delegate helpers. There is always just one Crowd helper in a simulation, and it controls the entire simulation. There can be one or more Delegate helpers, and usually there are several.

Delegates are made to follow behaviors, which are rules that govern the delegates’ movement. For example, one type of behavior makes delegates move toward (or seek) a particular object, and another behavior prevents delegates from bumping into one another. It’s common to combine behaviors so that, for example, delegates don’t collide while seeking an object.
