Exercise 7.1. Creating a Freeform Animation

In this exercise, you’ll create a freeform animation of a biped sitting up in bed. Obviously, footsteps wouldn’t be applicable for this type of animation, so freeform is the choice.

1.
Load the file Sleeping.max from the CD. This file contains a biped sleeping peacefully on a bed.
2.
Select the entire biped by going to the main toolbar, clicking the Named Selection Sets drop-down, and choosing Biped. In the first sitting motion, nearly every part of the biped’s body will be animated. To keep the body in its current position at frame 0, you’ll need to set keys for all body parts at frame 0.
