10. Lighting

Building 3D models, or acquiring them from online sources, is just the first part of the process of creating a 3D scene. The next important step is getting the lighting right.

If you want to create a standalone object, such as the bust of Julius Caesar below, then the way you arrange the lighting can completely change the way viewers perceive the image. Plain? Sinister? Scary? Mysterious? All these emotional values can be appended to the object via the use of lighting alone, so it really pays to take the time to think about what you want.
