Vortex Modeling in Maya

When starting any new project, the first thing to do is to study the resource material as thoroughly as you can. I try to figure as much out about the shape in my head as possible, before I even touch a 3D package.

When studying your reference material, try to highlight any inconsistencies between the different images you have and collate a list of questions for the customer or Art Director. If you’re doing the project for yourself, as in this case, then just decide which you prefer and ensure you follow the correct reference by making notes on it.
