About the Author
Christine Benz is director of personal finance for Morningstar and editor of Morningstar PracticalFinance, a monthly personal finance newsletter geared toward individual investors. She also writes a weekly column on Morningstar.com, "Improving Your Finances." She was co-author of Morningstar® Guide to Mutual Funds: 5-Star Strategies for Success, a national bestseller published in 2003, and author of the book's second edition, which was published in 2005.
Christine began her career at Morningstar in 1993. She has served in numerous roles on the company's fund analyst team: analyst, team leader, editor of Morningstar® Mutual Funds™ and Morningstar FundInvestor, and director of fund analysis. She began focusing on personal finance in 2004, launching Morningstar.com's "The Short Answer" column.
Christine received her bachelor's degree in Russian and East European Studies and Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.9
