Introduction

At the start of the 21st century, Point and Figure had been around for over 120 years, with almost no change to the original concept. It started off as a tick-by-tick charting system and although ways to use different data series were eventually found, the technique has remained unchanged. In some ways it is good that it has stood the test of time and that the method is just as effective now as it was in the 19th and 20th centuries, but that does not mean that we should not push the frontiers and look at modifications, improvements and new features in Point and Figure charts that are enabled by modern technology. These need to be done without altering the framework on which Point and Figure was built, of course.
