Ever tried a Blue Pearmain, Wolf River, Liberty, or 20-ounce Pippin apple? You would be munching away if you were a member of an apple CSA. CSA stands for community-supported agriculture.

For six weeks each fall, 55 members of the Out on a Limb heirloom apple CSA head over to the Rabelais cookbook store to pick up their apples. Members of a tomato CSA stop by to collect their bounty during the summer months.

“It's been a fabulous thing,” said Samantha Lindgren, co-owner of the specialty bookstore located in downtown Portland, Maine. “It's a perfect fit and a great way to bring customers into the store who might not know about us.”
