Managing Files in a Document Library

You can add almost any type of file to a document library for the purpose of storing or sharing the file. Depending on the restrictions set by the site administrator, it might not be possible to add executable files or other types of files deemed possibly dangerous.

Tip

If you want to add a file of a restricted type that you know is not a security hazard, rename the file with a different file extension, such as .txt, and then upload it. This will prevent it from being executable, thus working around the problem.
