Understanding Messaging Protocols
A messaging protocol is a mechanism that messaging servers and applications use to transfer messages. Being able to use a specific e-mail service requires that your application support the same protocols the server uses. To configure Outlook 2007 as a messaging client, you need to understand the various protocols supported by Outlook 2007 and the types of servers that employ each type.
