Moving from Gauge to Gauge

 

Your 16mm film may need to include 35mm shots and you may indeed want to make copies of the finished film available in another format. Are the gauges interchangeable?

35mm reduced to 16mm

35mm originals can be reduced to 16mm without problems. If the 35mm original is in colour, shot on Eastmancolor negative, you can either make a straight 16mm reduction print by asking the laboratory to re-expose the cut 35mm Eastmancolor negative on a roll of 16mm colour positive stock, or you can make a 16mm reversal internegative from the 35mm cut original and use the dupe for making 16mm copies.
