Narration: Pre-Recording, Matching
We have so far considered synchronised sound, and music and effects tracks but we have not discussed voice over narration. Offscreen narration (commentary) is used in many films, particularly documentaries. It can be recorded at one of two stages of production. You can either record “to picture” during a dub or you can pre-record commentary and edit it to match the picture in the cutting room.
