Negative Cutting: Where and When

 

Where the first frame of picture is joined to the leader of the cutting copy, you will have to join the same scene of camera original on either the A or the B roll matching edge numbers step by step.

Look at the first edge number on the first shot of the cutting copy. Mark one frame of it with a small wax pencil mark on the side of the film. Now find the same point on the same number on the camera original and put the two identical numbers opposite each other with the original in the fourth track of the synchroniser.

Wind down to the next edge number and check to ensure that the cutting copy and the original match exactly. When you are sure they do, wind back to the point ...
