Connect With People Through Questions
Being heard is a natural desire for all human beings. And so is sharing information about ourselves. Though we may not want to share every aspect of our lives, we do like for people to open the door and let us show them who we are.
Asking questions of others opens that door. When we ask others what they think about a situation, a viewpoint, or about themselves or their work, we send the message that who they are is important.
Assignment
Develop a short list of three questions to ask someone you’re meeting for the first time. Choose questions that will give you some immediate insight into who the person is, but also put the person at ease with you.
