Give Your Undivided Attention
Most of us today give subdivided attention, instead of undivided attention. The art of multitasking is to blame. We’re busy checking the “crackberry” while a coworker is talking, or we’re responding to e-mail or doing some other act of unintentional disregard.
As a result, we don’t invest the time it really takes to build good relationships with people. So how do you cope with all the distracting demands that eat away at your attention span?
Simple: stop!
That means stop checking e-mail while talking to people on the telephone. Stop checking your BlackBerry while someone else is talking to you. Stop calling out to others while you’re talking to a coworker in the hallway.
