Don’t Be Manipulative
Trying to manipulate people is an effort to get them to do something they really don’t want to do. When you manipulate someone, you attempt to get her to fall to your agenda by unethical means. That can be by threatening, intimidating, lying, or some other nasty behavior.
Bribery is one way. And it’s not always money; it can be favoritism, implied rewards, or the threat (as in coercion) of negative consequences. Use of these techniques results in one party having power over the other. This is known as a win-lose, and that’s not a mutually beneficial relationship.
Using manipulative behavior, you might get your way once or twice, but it will always come back to haunt you.
