Give Yourself a Pep Talk
Okay, be careful with this one. You don’t want to be caught having a one-way conversation out loud. But talking yourself down from a conflict situation can help you regain focus.
While you’re taking all those deep breaths recommended in Idea 119, add in some self meditation, so to speak. Quietly tell yourself with each breath: “I can handle this. He’s just trying to be understood. He’s just trying to be heard. I can give him that.”

Think of positive things to say about each of your coworkers when conflict should arise, and have those statements ready in your mind to remind yourself with every calming, deep breath you take.
