If you have a track record of steady employment and no layoffs, that can be a powerful tool for hiring, retaining, and inspiring people. We call it harnessing and using your SBA (small business advantage). David was small but had an advantage over Goliath. Use your tools in the same way.

On a 3 × 5 card, list all of your small business advantages, such as the ability to make quick decisions, owner’s availability and accessibility in the company, and so on. Then use this card when you are hiring new people and use it to remind current employees they are working for a good company.
