Use a laserpointer foremphasis.

Rather than turning your back to the audience to point to something you regard as important, stand to the side and use a laser pointer that significantly extends your reach. This will allow you to point the audience’s attention to the particular part of the slide that you deem important while, at the same time, maintain eye contact with them. Some digital projectors come with laser pointers. If yours does, use it.
