Say a few wordsto your (soon-to-be) audience.

Rehearsing the opening words or phrases of your presentation will help your voice settle in initially. This settling-in period should be helpful to you in ensuring that your voice doesn’t crack and that the microphone’s volume (if you’re using a microphone) is set at a proper level. Listen carefully to the way you sound. It is often amazing how much the sound of our voices changes based on the setting in which we’re speaking. Minimize the shock.
