Research into more than 1,000 parole board decisions in Israel demonstrated the potentially devastating impact of exhausting our ‘willpower’ (a process also known as ‘decision fatigue’). In around one-third of cases, parole for prisoners was approved, but the fluctuation of the variation in parole decisions was staggering.
