Chapter 7

Factors and Multiples

Factors and multiples are two key mathematical ideas that are both related to division. When one number is divisible by another number, the first number is a multiple of the second, and the second is a factor of the first. Calculating the factors and multiples of a number is essential for the more complicated math that follows, such as working with fractions, decimals, and percents (which are covered in Chapters 9 through 11).
